Description
Poul Kjærholm started his working life as a cabinetmaker’s apprentice, unlike many of his fellow designers of that time who were generally trained as architects. After completion of his studies, he became a lecturer at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
Kjærholm has always been intrigued by the use of steel for his designs, and used the material predominantly in his furniture, where wood, cane, leather and marble had mostly a secondary role.
Our version of the PK22 Chair (design 1956) has been completely re-caned to original specification. This particular set consists of probably one of Kjærholm’s most recognized pieces and is featured in several musea among his other works such as the PK-80 (daybed) or the PK-24 (Hammock Chair).
