It is not often we feature IKEA-made furniture in our inventory, an exception would be the multi-colored bookshelf sold by IKEA during the 1980s.
This piece, now considered a collectors’ item due to the limited production period, was designed by industrial designer Niels Gammelgaard (1944).
Niels Gammelgaard has designed many products during his career ranging from pencils to hospital beds. Not only has he worked together with IKEA to design several of their products from the 1980s onwards, but also with other big names such as Fritz Hansen, Fredericia and Erik Jørgensen.
Construction: Steel frame, laminated particleboard. Has screw openings so that shelf can be attached to the floor.
Origination: Sweden, 1980s
Condition: Good vintage, some signs of wear as pictured. A small screw was replaced holding one of the shelves in place. Overall ok.
